Phillip A. Bowers
(1955 - 2012)
Phillip A. Bowers, 56, transitioned to his Heavenly home Thursday, May 10, 2012. He was born Oct 3, 1955 in Wichita. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Phillip received his Master's Degree of Education from Wichita State University and was employed by WSU for 28 years where he was currently the Assistant Director of TRIO Disability Support Services. He was preceded in death by his father, John Milton Dopps Bowers. He is loved and survived by his mother, Lillian Bowers; brothers, James, Paul, Ben and Michael Bowers; sisters, Jackie Farney, Cecily Holliday, Patti Miskimon, Sarah Krehbiel, Priscilla Frank, Phyllis Long, Lois Hallberg and Julie Beck; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with his family present 6-8pm, Monday, May 14, 2012 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt. Funeral 11am, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Countryside Church, 1919 S. Rock Road, Wichita, KS. Memorials may be contributed to the Phillip Bowers Memorial/Education Fund, c/o WSU Foundation, 1845 Fairmount, Wichita, KS 67260-0002. Condolences may be offered at www.devorssflanaganhunt.com.

We are looking at June 2014
for the Alaskan Cruise. The estimated
cost is $1500-$2500/person.
We will still have our 40th reunion party
in summer of 2015.

Updated thoughts on the future Alaska cruise for the class: I had a discussion with my Royal Caribbean rep, and she said if we choose them she would see that we get some extra amenities, AND she planted the idea that we might be able to make it a fundraiser cruise.
I don't know all the rules about how a non-profit group can be formed to do that, so I just want to throw out the idea if the group leaders know how and/or have a charitable cause they would like to benefit.
Royal Caribbean has favorably changed their round-trip Seattle itinerary, so I'm now leaning their way -- which would also be nice for supporting a local employer (they have a call center in Wichita). Of course, it's a few years away and things could change again, but I like the idea of the fundraiser because it would add value to the trip without costing us any more.
